What products.ai chat is and how Pius Bot works: four steps from your question to one clear pick, why it fits you, and a shop where you can buy it.
Preview: products.ai chat opens soon. This page describes how it works at launch.
Pius Bot is the AI shopping assistant from products.ai. You tell it what you're looking for, and you get back one clear pick, why it fits you, and where to buy it: a shop that has it in stock and delivers to you. You ask it in products.ai chat, which runs in your browser at products.ai/chat.
Pius is the line-drawn shopping cart you see around the site. Its job is the research before you buy: finding the product that fits you, then a good place to buy it.
How does Pius Bot answer a question?
It works in four steps, always in the same order: your question, the knowledge base, the shops, then the report. The order is the point. Pius settles which product fits you before it looks at a single shop, so no shop can talk it into the wrong product.
| Step | What Pius reads | What comes out |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Your question | What you typed: your budget, what it's for, what you can't do without | Your brief, shown as chips like "Under €300" and "For travel" |
| 2. Knowledge base | The catalog (product records matched by barcode, or GTIN), guides, reviews, forums, news and recalls | A shortlist, weighed on what matters to you |
| 3. Shops | Merchant offers, the live web and local coverage | Where to buy: a shop that has it in stock, delivers to you and is clear about returns |
| 4. Report | Everything above | One pick, the reasons, and where to buy |
Take the headphones example from our home page. Pius scanned 48 headphones, narrowed them to 3 that were under €300, good for travel and noise cancelling, and picked the Sony WH-1000XM5. Only then did it look at the 23 shops that sell it. The status line read "Answered · 214 checks": 126 internal, 88 external.
Why match on the barcode?
Similar models are easy to mix up. A barcode (GTIN) belongs to one specific product, so the shop Pius names sells the exact box you asked about, not a lookalike.
What's in the report?
The report opens with the verdict in one line, for example "For travel under €300, get the Sony WH-1000XM5." Below it:
- Why it fits: the reasons, tied to your brief.
- Watch for: the trade-off worth knowing. For the XM5 that's battery life, because the Momentum 4 lasts longer.
- Where to buy: the shop Pius Bot recommends, with stock, delivery time, its price and the date it was listed, and a Go to store button.
- Why not the others: one line for each product Pius passed on.
- Citations: numbered links like [1] and [2] that point to the source behind each claim.
Read the report covers each part.
What doesn't Pius Bot do?
- It doesn't sell products. Pius is an information service. When you buy, you buy from the shop, and delivery, warranty and returns are between you and that shop.
- It doesn't let commission pick. It picks the product on fit first, before it looks at any shop. Affiliate links are added after the shop is chosen, and every one is flagged. Shops can't pay to be recommended.
- It doesn't invent prices. Every price comes from an offer a shop listed, with the shop's name and the date. An old listing keeps its old date, so you can judge how fresh it is.
Pius uses AI, and AI can still get things wrong. That's why every answer cites its sources, and why the shop's own page is what counts when you order. See Where to buy and Affiliate links.
