While Pius works, a trail shows the four steps: Your question, Knowledge base, Shops, Report. When it's done, the status line reads something like "Answered · 214 checks". The sidebar lists the sources used, grouped under Knowledge base and Shops.
Your brief and the shortlist
The brief is the row of chips at the top: Under €300, For travel, Noise cancelling. Check it first: if Pius Bot misread your budget or use, everything below answers the wrong question. Correct it with a follow-up.
The shortlist shows how Pius got from the catalog to a few candidates: 48 headphones scanned, 3 shortlisted, the Apple AirPods Max dropped as over budget. Each candidate is weighed on what matters for your brief, here noise cancelling, comfort, battery and budget. The Sony WH-1000XM5 scored 4 of 4 on noise, 3 of 4 on comfort and 2 of 4 on battery, and it fits the budget.
The verdict, Why it fits and Watch for
The verdict is one sentence you can act on: "For travel under €300, get the Sony WH-1000XM5." It repeats your use and budget, so you know it answers your question.
Why it fits gives the reasons, each tied to your brief: the strongest noise cancelling for flights, comfortable for long wear, and €226,99, which is €73,01 under your budget.
Watch for names the trade-off. For the XM5 it's battery: 30 hours, where the Sennheiser Momentum 4 lasts 60. If battery matters more to you than quiet on a plane, the pick may not be yours.
Where to buy and Second chance
Where to buy names the shop to buy the pick from, marked Best pick: one that has it in stock, delivers to you and is clear about returns. Its row shows the shop's logo, delivery, stock, the price, the date the shop listed it and a Go to store button.
- bol.com: €226,99, listed 28 Sep, free delivery in 1–2 days, in stock. Best pick.
Other shops that have the pick in stock and deliver to you are listed below it, in case you'd rather buy where you already have an account.
Second chance is an offer outside your brief that's still worth a look: a refurbished pair, grade A, from €179,00, when you asked for new. It isn't the pick, but it stays visible so you can decide. Where to buy explains how Pius Bot chooses the shop.
Why not the others
Every product Pius Bot passed on gets one line with the reason and its price:
- Sennheiser Momentum 4, €199,90: longest battery (60 h), but less quiet on a plane.
- Bose QC Ultra, €335,85: most comfortable, but €35,85 over budget.
Read this when the pick feels wrong. If a reason doesn't matter to you, that product may suit you better, and a follow-up like Compare with Momentum 4 settles it.
Citations and receipts
The numbers after the verdict, [1] and [2], are citations. Each points to a receipt that shows where the claim came from:
- [1] Knowledge base · Sony WH-1000XM5 · GTIN 4548736132580: the exact product record, matched on its barcode.
- [2] Shops · 23 shops · best pick bol.com: the shop listings behind Where to buy.
Use the GTIN to make sure you buy the same product: if the shop's page or the box shows a barcode number, it should match. To keep going, tap a suggested follow-up such as Which is best for calls? or ask your own.
