Ask Pius Bot

Write a question Pius Bot can answer well

How to ask Pius Bot a good shopping question: give your budget, what it's for, your must-haves and your country, with weak and strong questions side by side.

A good question tells Pius Bot four things: your budget, what the product is for, what you can't do without, and where you live. Pius turns those into a brief, and the brief decides which products make the shortlist and which shops come first. One line is usually enough.

What does Pius Bot turn into a brief?

Your brief is the set of conditions Pius checks every product against. It sits at the top of the report as chips, so you see what Pius understood before you read the pick.

Part of the brief Say it like this What it changes
Budget "under €300" Products over it drop out. That is how the Apple AirPods Max left the headphones example.
Use "for travel", "for a small kitchen" What Pius weighs most. For travel, quiet on a plane counted for more than battery life.
Must-haves "noise cancelling", "new, not refurbished" Which products stay in the running at all.
Country "delivered in Canada" Which shops come first and which currency you see.

"Noise-cancelling headphones under €300 for travel?" became three chips: Under €300, For travel, Noise cancelling. Together they took 48 headphones down to a shortlist of 3. If a chip is wrong, fix it in a follow-up.

Save must-haves for what you'd really send the product back without. Each one narrows the list. Mention the rest as preferences ("ideally light").

What makes a question weak or strong?

A strong question names the use and the limits. A weak one leaves Pius Bot guessing, so the pick fits an average buyer instead of you.

Weak Strong Why the strong one works
"Good headphones?" "Noise-cancelling headphones under €300 for travel?" Budget, use and a must-have in one line
"Best laptop" "A laptop for college under $800, light enough to carry all day, in the US" Pius knows what to weigh and which shops to check
"Is this one any good?" "Is the Bose QC Ultra (2nd Gen) in violet a good pick for long flights?" The exact product, color and use, so Pius judges the right one
"Which Sony is better?" "Sony XM5 or the older XM4, for long flights?" Two exact models and a reason to choose
"A gift for my dad" "A gift under €80 for a dad who grills every weekend, delivered in Belgium" A budget, a real person to fit and a country

How do follow-ups work?

Type in the "Ask a follow-up…" box under the report, or tap a suggestion such as Compare with Momentum 4 or Which is best for calls?. You don't need to repeat your budget or use. Say what changed: "What if I go up to €350?" or "I also take a lot of calls."

For a different product, start a New question from the sidebar, so your headphone conditions stay out of your coffee machine search.

How do you compare two products?

Name both exact models and what you'll use them for: "Sony XM5 or the older XM4, for long flights?" You still get one pick, plus a one-line why not for the other, so the answer doesn't end in "it depends".

Exact names matter because similar models are easy to mix up. Pius Bot matches each product on its barcode (GTIN), so the XM4 and the XM5 stay separate records with their own specs.

How do you ask about a product you already found?

Give Pius Bot the exact product: the name, the model code and the color. If you have the barcode number (the GTIN or EAN printed under the barcode on the box), add it. Then ask what you want to know: "Is the De'Longhi Magnifica S ECAM 22.115.B worth it?"

Pius checks the product against what you want, and looks at its variants and real alternatives. For the Magnifica S in black, it found that the silver ECAM 22.110.SB is the same machine in another color, and that the Siemens EQ.300 is the one to get if you want cappuccino at one touch. Note: Pius doesn't need your health details or other sensitive information to find a good product, so leave them out of your questions. See Privacy and data.
